Stop Guessing. Start Glowing.

From Dupont Circle to Capitol Hill, DC professionals trust Skin In The Game for treatments that actually work.

Here's some of our most asked questions.

Can microchanneling actually fix fine lines, acne scars, and rough texture?

It's one of the most effective treatments we offer for all three. Microchanneling gets your skin producing collagen again, which smooths out texture, softens scars, and firms things up over time. The results stack with each session, so the longer you commit, the better it gets.

How does microchanneling actually get rid of acne scars?

It works by creating tiny channels in the skin that kick your body's healing process into gear. That healing response breaks down old scar tissue and builds new, healthy skin in its place. Every treatment is tailored to what your skin actually needs, not a one-size approach.

What skin issues can a customized facial treat?

Pretty much anything. Breakouts, dullness, dehydration, uneven tone, puffiness, congestion. Your esthetician builds the treatment around your specific concerns, so no two facials here look the same.

Can microchanneling help with hair thinning?

Yes, and it's one of the more underrated things we do. The same collagen-stimulating process that resurfaces skin also wakes up sluggish hair follicles. We offer scalp treatments in addition to face and neck.

Why isn't my skincare routine fixing my skin?

Most over-the-counter products never get past the surface. They can't reach the deeper layers where scarring, collagen loss, and persistent acne actually live. Professional treatments work at the source, which is why you see results that no serum on a shelf can replicate.

What treatments does Skin In The Game DC offer?

We offer customized facials, microchanneling, and professional facial waxing. Facials include deep pore cleansing, anti-aging with microcurrent, dermaplaning, lymphatic drainage, hydration infusion, LED acne treatments, and the Custom 90-Minute Facial. Everything is built around your skin.

Do you offer memberships or packages?

Yes. The Glow Membership is $180 a month and includes one signature facial, 15% off additional treatments, 10% off skincare products, priority booking, and a quarterly complimentary add-on. Prepaid packages start at $810 with no expiration and can be shared with a friend or family member.

What waxing services do you offer?

We do precision facial waxing for brows, upper lip, chin, sideburns, cheeks, nose, and ears. A full face wax is also available. Every service is done to minimize irritation and give you clean, long-lasting results.

Do I need to do a consultation before my first visit?

No separate consultation needed. Your esthetician will assess your skin right at the start of your appointment and customize the treatment from there. Just show up, and we handle the rest.

Where is Skin In The Game DC located?

We're at 1725 I St NW, Third Floor, Washington DC 20006. Steps from Farragut West Metro, blocks from the White House. We're open until 8 PM so you can come straight from work.

How many microchanneling sessions do I need?

Most people see real improvement after the first session, but a series of 3 to 6 treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart is where the transformation happens. Collagen rebuilds over months, so the deeper results develop over time.

Is microchanneling safe? What are the risks?

It's minimally invasive with very little downtime. Most people experience some redness for 24 to 48 hours, similar to a mild sunburn. The stamping technique we use creates cleaner channels with less trauma than traditional microneedling, so healing is faster.

Who is a good candidate for microchanneling?

Anyone dealing with lingering acne scars, fine lines that serums aren't touching, sagging or crepey skin, hyperpigmentation, or thinning hair. If you've tried everything and nothing has stuck, this works at the level where real change actually happens.

Will my face peel after microchanneling?

Not in the dramatic way people sometimes expect. You'll have some redness for a day or two, then your skin starts looking smoother and brighter within the first week as fresh cells take over. Most people are back to normal the next day.

What should I avoid before a microchanneling appointment?

Skip the active ingredients for a week before you come in. That means retinols, acids, and anything that sensitizes the skin. Your esthetician will walk you through exactly what to do when you book.

How long is the recovery after microchanneling?

There's no real downtime. You'll be a little red for a couple of hours after the treatment, and by the next day you can pick your routine back up like normal.

Does microchanneling hurt?

Most clients describe it as a mild prickling feeling. We apply a numbing agent before the treatment so you stay comfortable throughout. Almost everyone says it was way more manageable than they expected.

Is microchanneling better than a chemical peel?

They do different things. Peels work on the surface. Microchanneling goes deeper, triggering your body to produce new collagen and elastin from within. For scars, firmness, and hair thinning, microchanneling addresses the root of the problem where peels simply can't reach.

Can I combine microchanneling with other treatments?

Yes. A lot of clients pair it with customized facials for better results overall. We'll help you map out a treatment plan that makes sense for your skin and your timeline.

What's the difference between microchanneling and microneedling?

Microchanneling uses a stamping motion with finer needles, which creates cleaner channels and causes less trauma than a roller dragging across your skin. That means faster healing, less discomfort, and better absorption of the serums used during treatment.

What should I know before getting my face waxed?

Waxing pulls hair from the root, so results last weeks longer than shaving. We use professional-grade products designed for the face, so even sensitive skin is in good hands. Most appointments are done in 30 minutes or less.

Are there any downsides to facial waxing?

Some people get a little redness or sensitivity right after, especially on sensitive skin. It's temporary, and our technique is designed to minimize it. The tradeoff is smooth, clean skin for weeks instead of days.

Does the full face wax include eyebrows?

Yes. The full face wax at $70 covers everything: eyebrows, sideburns, cheeks, chin, upper lip, lower lip, nose, and front of neck. One session, done.

Is it worth waxing chin hair?

Absolutely. Chin waxing removes hair at the root so you're not checking the mirror every other day. It's $17 and takes a few minutes. Clean, simple, and it lasts weeks.

How long does a facial wax actually last?

Several weeks for most people. Because the hair is pulled from the root instead of cut at the surface, regrowth takes longer and comes back finer each time. Most clients come back every three to four weeks.

Will facial hair grow back thicker after waxing?

No, that's a shaving thing. Waxing actually weakens the follicle over time, so regrowth gets softer and finer the more consistently you do it. The opposite of what most people expect.

What's the best way to remove unwanted facial hair?

Professional waxing. It lasts longer, the results are cleaner, and with regular sessions the hair comes back thinner. We offer upper lip ($15), chin ($17), cheeks ($16), sideburns ($16), or the full face ($70) for everything at once.

What is the 48-hour rule after waxing?

For 48 hours after your wax, stay out of direct sun, skip the heavy sweating, avoid hot showers, and hold off on strong skincare products. Your skin is more sensitive right after, and skipping these things means smoother, longer-lasting results.

What should I do and avoid after a face wax?

Do use a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer and keep the area clean. Don't touch it with dirty hands, pile on makeup right away, or use exfoliants and retinol for at least 48 hours. Follow that and your skin will look and feel great.
